Quick Flower Centerpiece

Things To Consider

  • Choose flowers in colors to suit your table setting and style
  • Alternatively, the tablecloth and style could tie in with the flowers
  • How much space do you have for your flower centerpiece?
  • Where will you put your flower arrangement?
  • What containers do you already have?
  • Are any the right size, shape and style?
  • Is the flower arrangement the piece de resistance or just for adding color and ambience?
  • What is your budget? How can you achieve the same or a similar effect cost effectively?
  • What type of container would suit the flowers and the table setting?

    Ready To Start

  • Ask the florist to cut the foam to fit, or do it yourself with a sharp kitchen knife.
  • Fit the foam into your container and moisten it
  • There is no right or wrong way with flower arrangements. Experimenting is part of the fun.
  • Keep it low. Use shorter stems (a good use for flowers with broken stems)
  • Experiment with different textures, shapes and colour combinations
  • Have the taller flowers and greenery in the centre, with lower flowers to the outside
  • Lean the outside flowers out, so they cover the edge of your container
  • Use bark chips or crumpled cellophane to cover any foam still visible
  • Look at your flower centrepiece from all angles before deciding it’s done
  • If it’s a hot day, spray the flowers every so often with a demister
