Preparation - Pin The Star On The Wand Game

  • Use an old fairy poster or use a photocopier to enlarge a colouring in book outline of a fairy with a wand to A3 size.
  • Your own child or children can colour this if necessary.
  • If just two or three children at the tea party, make this a party activity.
  • Attach the fairy poster to a wall or door.
  • You will also need a scarf or sleeping mask to use as a blindfold, and a gold cardboard star.

Playing - Pin the Star on the Wand Game

  • Blindfold the first child.
  • Give the child a gold star with double sided tape on the back, or a pin through it.
  • Lead the child until they are standing in front of the fairy picture.
  • Ask them to turn around once (or twice depending on the age of the child and your situation)
  • The child places the star where they think the end of the fairy’s wand is.
  • Mark this position with a pen, and add the child’s name.
  • Repeat with the other children
    • The child who places their star closest to the end of the fairy’s wand (or on top of the star on the poster) is the winner.

Use your judgement and common sense to keep this game fun and safe. Some children e.g. young children, may feel disoriented with spinning around.

You may prefer to use no pin or tape on the star. Just have the child hold the star in position, while you mark the spot.
