Tea parties don’t always have to be quiet and sedate. Activity and music, can be lots of fun for kids, and for parents who don’t mind a bit of (hopefully tuneful) noise.

Have some added fun with our nonsense tea party variations to the well known children’s song, “Oh We Can Play On The Big Bass Drum”.

Add more verses each with a different instrument

Nonsense Tea Party Variations
Substitute tea party foods words for the instruments
Children will enjoy the nonsense aspect of playing e.g. a baguette
Start them off by saying a tea party word, to signal the next verse, or have the guest of honour choose e.g.

Oh, we can play on the big blue cake
And this is the way we do it
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM
Goes the big blue cake
And that’s the way we do it

Oh, we can play on the long baguette
And this is the way we do it
