Kids In The Kitchen - Crazy Icecream
Crazy icecream is great for a Tea Party, because of its versatility.
At Christmas time, add decorative festive touches, to resemble mini plum pudding. Make it in small individual bowls or moulds for the plum pudding shape.
Crazy Icecream - Ingredients
- 2-3 favorite candy bars, chopped
- chopped marshmallows
- 2 liters vanilla or light colored icecream
- 1 bottle magic shell chocolate topping
(the type that hardens when poured on icecream)
Crazy Icecream - Method
Soften icecream, but don’t allow to melt completely. In a bowl mix the chopped candy bars and marshmallows through the icecream. Line a bowl or individual small bowls (e.g. Chinese bowls) with clear plastic wrap. For smaller versions, line muffin pans, or use cupcake paper or foil cups. Spoon icecream into container(s) and freeze till firm.
Turn out gently onto a plate or individual plates. Drizzle with chocolate topping.
Other Variations
This recipe for crazy icecream offers flexibility with quantities and ingredients, so there is room to experiment.
- Use a lightly flavoured icecreame.g. honeycomb or peppermint. A light color shows the crazy candy pieces in the icecream, when sliced. Kids love this discovery, and it looks effective too
- Older children may like to make a chocolate sauce for the crazy icecream. Bring 150 ml thickened cream to the boil, and gently stir in 100 grams cooking chocolate, stirring until melted.
Adult Version
Adults can make their own sophisticated version, using ready made icecream or using an icecream maker.
Add your choice of chopped fruit, glaced cherries, mixed dried or sugared fruit, chopped nuts, coffee liqueur, rum, couverture chocolate, coconut etc.
