Jungle Snake Baguette - Kids Tea Party Recipe
This jungle snake baguette is shaped like a snake “snaking” around as it moves.
This is a fun way to have healthy fun tea party sandwiches for boys or girls. Have a children’s jungle tea party or animal tea party.
Ingredients
- 1 baguette or French bread stick
- any sandwich fillings
- 2 strips red capsicum
- tomato sauce (optional)
- 2 olives
- 2 toothpicks
Method
- Slice baguette lengthwise
- Add your choice of sandwich fillings to the full length of the bottom half
- Place the top half of the baguette over this
- Slice into sandwiches, keeping the size suitable for the age of your tea party guests
On a large tray or platter, arrange the sandwich pieces so that the baguette looks like a snake “snaking around” as it moves. The rounded ends of the baguette become the head and the tail. Attach the two olives with toothpicks for eyes.
Cut the capsicum into two long thin triangles. Place the base of the capsicum triangles next to each other, and in between the two layers of bread at the head. The pointy ends become the snake’s tongue. Drizzle tomato sauce or other condiment lightly in a zigzag over the back of the snake.
Variations & Tips
If preferred, cut the baguette into individual pieces before adding sandwich fillings.
The snaking effect is easier and most effective with a longer baguette. However, smaller versions of baguettes and similar breads are also available. Just cut the sandwiches slices smaller.
