Cherry Pie Recipe 2This classic cherry pie recipe is bound to be a hit at your next tea party or coffee get together. Cherries in season make a great treat, but you can cheat by using prepared cherry filling, to make this delicious tea party food. If you use prepared pastry it will be quicker still.Ingredients
- 1 pkt refrigerated pie crust for 9 inch cherry pie
- 2 (20 ounce) cans cherry pie filling
- 1 cup of dried tart cherries (optional)
- 1/2 tspn almond extract (optional)
Method
Line a 9 inch pie pan with pie crust. Trim crust along pan edge. Pour cherry pie filling evenly into crust. Sprinkle with almond extract, if desired. Add the optional dried cherries for a more tart flavor, if you like. Place second crust over filling. Wrap excess top crust under bottom crust. Press edges together with fork. With a knife, cut slits in top crust.
Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 35-40 minutes, or until crust is golden brown. Cover edge of crust with strips of foil, if needed, to prevent overbrowning.
Makes 6-8 servings of yummy Cherry Pie - just right for a tea party or for a Very Cherry Christmas menu.
